Is there any downtime?

We have some very large businesses and government offices that rely on the connection 24×7.

We also maintain 2x upstream connections to the internet for added redundancy. However, the internet is a public information highway and there will be problems.

The most important factor is the network’s internal redundancy and the speed of the response to correct problems. Our infrastructure is monitored 24×7 and sends out notices to network engineers when something happens.

How can I contact support?

You can call our main number at 204-481-CROW (2769).

Email support is also provided via help@highspeedcrow.ca.

If you have pre-sales questions, please send an email to websales@highspeedcrow.ca

What about online gaming?

Thanks to our low-latency network design we have many customers engaged in online gaming and very satisfied with the service. We do recommend the SOHO/gamer plan or higher in such cases.

Does VoIP work on your service?

Yes, it works. The higher speed packages will also provide a higher priority on packets. We do not resell any VoIP services; you can select any provider that you want. However, some will work better than others.

My connection is slow, what do I do?

You may want to check that you are not using any file sharing programs as many will saturate the internet connection. Cloud backup systems can do this too.

Also, be sure to run virus/spyware scans regularly to avoid potential problems in the future.

We can remotely check the signal level and general status of customer connections, if we perform a service call and find that the problem is with the customer-owned equipment or due to damage there may be additional charges.

How do I setup my XBOX, Wii, PSx?

The WAN/INTERNET configuration on the router has to be setup for PPPoE. Before this is done you must contact support to receive your PPPoE username and password.

For all other settings on your console, please set them to ‘Automatic’.

For wireless, do I need a tripod/pole?

The installers carry various equipment / mounting options with them. In case where more height is needed to mount the antenna, we sell the tripod/pole for $100.00. We can use customer-provided tripods or poles as long as they are solid, undamaged and of standard size.

Can the antenna be tree-mounted?

There are limitations to achieving a reliable signal. Trees are not a good place to mount equipment like this. If you are deep in the trees in all directions, expect something to go on the roof of your house, or that you need to install a residential tower. However, there are some exceptions if you are line-of-sight to a tower.

Would I need an Ethernet / WiFi card?

All modern computers have an Ethernet / NIC or Wi-Fi card, older computers may need one installed. If there are multiple computers, a router will be needed to share the connection.

How many cables go to the antenna?

One cable is all that is needed from the antenna to the PC/router.

Can you give references?

For business customers, we do provide references for similar size packages & businesses. We had a few who compared our services to other wireless providers and they have been quite impressed at the lower latency and higher speeds we provide.

Since when has HSC done business?

We have been in the wireless internet business since 2003, although we did not actively advertise much in the beginning. Quality service = word of mouth advertising. We are not a dial-up provider turned wireless, nor a small computer shop trying to use WiFi. We focus on last mile delivery of Internet services via wireless, and now fiber, communications.

Do you do dedicated Point-to-Point?

Yes, we can do so on fiber or wireless. Our network was built from the ground up with the intention of providing carrier grade service throughout the region. If business need dictates a point to point link, we can provide sales, services, and also access to our crash kit of equipment. The availability of high speed backbone equipment in Manitoba is an important factor for any company depending on wireless communications.

Can I do the installation myself?

Because every customer site is different, it is impossible to have a document or step by step instructions that would cover all situations. Let our staff of professional and courteous installers complete the job for you!

How fast of a connection can I get?

The crucial question is what is in the budget. We can provide speeds from 3Mbps to 1Gbps now, and more later. The exact location, proximity to the tower, line-of-sight, client equipment, use of routers or WiFi equipment, and other factors will determine what the end speed is.

Do you support VPN?

We support the last mile delivery of Internet services, and there are many customers working from home using VPN connections. If a company needs help with setting up VPN services, we can provide assistance.

When is billing done?

We start the billing at the beginning of every month.

How do I view an invoice?

You would need to download a PDF viewer, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/

What payment methods available?

At time of install we accept cash, cheque, credit cards, bank debit, e-mail money transfer, direct deposit.

For ongoing payments, it can be credit card or bank debit.

Business customers can also pay invoices via cheque.
